She is survived by her children John Wackerd and Christine Colistra (David) brother Dan McDermott (Mary) Grandsons Dean and Cal and niece Molly Polk. She had a passion for maintaining the perfect home, giving it individuality, love and attention to detail. She was a loving and devoted mother and had the gift of connecting with her family and many of her friends. There she met the love of her life, Dan, whom she married in 1967. There were many barriers to women who wished to enjoy success in the business world and in their personal economic circumstances. Lenora Fincher was born in 1920, as the last big pandemic was coming to a close and women in the US were gaining the right to vote. In fact, all the flowers for her daughter’s wedding were grown in Mrs. She took great pleasure in growing a wide variety of plants and flowers, with a special talent for growing roses. Fincher’s passion during her non-working hours and into retirement was gardening. The last 10 years of her life were spent as a resident of Sharon Towers. She lived in the Steele Creek community until the expansion of the Charlotte Douglas Airport property required her to move. Fincher was a member of the Steele Creek Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. Fincher owned and operated, with her late husband, Dutch Cleaners in Charlotte, and when her husband’s health began to decline, she single-handedly negotiated and closed the sale of their dry-cleaning business in order to take care of him. ![]() Fincher worked in the Charlotte office of Ford Motor Company. After attending King’s Business College in Charlotte, she worked in a variety of employment settings, both before and after her marriage in 1940. Fincher graduated from Jackson High School in Waxhaw, NC, in 1937. Fincher is survived by her loving and beloved daughter, Doloris Learmonth and her husband, Bill, of Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.īorn on a family farm in Union County, Mrs. She also was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Worth (“Bill”) Fincher. She was predeceased by her siblings: Harold, Tonze, Haywood and Worth Norwood. Her parents were Walter Clyde and Mary Todd Norwood. She was born on July 13, 1920, in Waxhaw, NC.
